Welcome to the Accelerate HR blog (Sun Oct 14 2007)
While the site's in development, we'll be using the blog to tell you what we've done and where we're going - and we hope you'll want to join in the discussion. There'll be three main threads:
HR Issues - So we say we want to simplify and speed up personnel administration. Then how exactly?
Implementation - Although it's still in the early stages, Accelerate is already a working website. We're using it right now on a big construction project in Abu Dhabi with some very tight deadlines. That's why the site needs to be fully operational by the end of January 2008. We'll let you know how it all works out.
Website design - We're using the exciting Ruby on Rails framework for development, partly because it lends itself so well to a data-driven application, partly because it helps us to develop fast, and partly just because we want to. We'll be discussing the tools we find useful, telling you where we go for help ... and if you're into Rails, asking you for your input too. And as a point of principle, all design-related discussion will be in plain English - with the emphasis on plain.
