The Accelerate HR Blog
Is your HR strategy worth stealing? (Thu Dec 06 2007)
I've been enjoying Jon Ingham's Strategic Human Capital Management Blog.
For years, I've been trying to get my clients to understand the difference between personnel administration and HR. Jon does it with a simple diagram - The Value Triangle.
Read Jon's explanatory notes here.
Then today, another of Jon's posts suggested the elevator pitch for Human Capital Management: Is your people management strategy so important to the company that it would be worth stealing? Well Jon didn't put it quite so bluntly, but that's the direction he's taken me in.
ACCELERATE HR is all about getting things right at the bottom of the Value Triangle. Creating efficiency and effectiveness. As I've said here before, too many of the businesses I deal with are so busy with the nuts and bolts of personnel administration and payroll that they never have time to create their beautiful sleek HR machine. By developing Accelerate for a construction company with huge amounts of new data to deal with each month, I have the perfect opportunity to test and measure the difference we can make to the routine operations of administration.
But the work doesn't stop at the bottom of the triangle. In the Arab Gulf states, it's vital that HR adds value to business, to create the millions of worthwhile jobs that are so urgently needed. It's thinking like Jon's that's going to help us get there.
